The Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex consists of various facilities, including the National Swimming Pool, a Gym, 2 squash courts, Headquarters of the Maltese Olympic Committee, House of Sports for various National Sport Associations. Situated only a few metres away from the Tal-Qroqq National Pool, is the University Sports Complex. The University Multipurpose Sports Hall is a modern sporting facility designed to cater for various disciplines, including basketball, volleyball, handball, gymnastics and martial arts.
Tal-Qroqq University Sports Hall
This Sports Hall is situated adjacent to the National Pool Complex but is considered as a separate entity. It is operated jointly in an equal partnership with the University Of Malta – hence its name “University Sports Hall”. The USH is mainly used by the Malta Handball Association, the Malta Table Tennis Association and the Malta Netball Association apart from training purposes and Skolasport/Summer on the Move activities. It is also used for academic purposes by the IPES of the UOM. The University Multipurpose Sports Hall is a modern sporting facility designed to cater for various disciplines, including basketball, volleyball, handball, gymnastics and martial arts.
Tal-Qroqq Squash Centre. There are 4 squash courts to be found at the Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex. It offers four glass-backed, parquet-floored courts.
Participants need to be 18 years old and over.
Senior Citizen Swimming Scheme
Programmes for senior citizens will include healthy walks and other low impact activities such as swimming, yoga and bend and stretch. Participants will learn about the significant potential of physical activity to impact upon their quality of life. These programmes, while maintaining social networks, aim at developing and maintaining a suitable level of fitness, promoting physical function, mobility and independence and help improve emotional and mental well-being.
SportMalta in this respect is offering free membership to 60+ clients at the National Pool Complex from Monday to Friday from 8am till 3pm. Senior citizens are kindly requested to fill in the below membership form and present two passport size photos together with a doctor’s certificate stating that they are physically fit for exercise.

Tal-Qroqq National Swimming Pool
The National Swimming Pool is situated at SportMalta Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex and offers a full sized Olympic pool (50mtrs) and a diving pool (25mtrs) and abides by International Olympic Swimming Standards. The pool is heated during the winter months to maintain temperature at 26.5-27 degree Celsius. The pool is monitered by latest equipment to monitor the quality of water to WHO specifications. The complex is the main venue for competitive aquatic sports in Malta. Besides the National Water polo leagues, a number of international water polo tournaments and important international swimming meetings are regularly held at the complex.The complex may be used by international sport users for training camps.Sports related services are also available within the complex.
Summer courses are also held, both for schools as well as for the general public. A number of qualified instructors operate these courses which cater for beginners, intermediate and advanced swimmers alike. Swimming galas for schools are organised by the staff at the complex on request. A number of specialised courses are also held such as life saving courses in colloboration with IPES, University of Malta.
A number of swimming clubs, waterpolo clubs and schools also offer their services at the pool. Various types of memberships are available starting from a Day Membership to an Annual Membership. Special Rates for Students and Senior Citizens also apply.
The Main pool is heated from the end of Sep to the end of May keeping a constant temperature of 26.5 – 27 degrees Celsius. The Dive pool is not heated during the winter times.
