Open/Close Menu SportMalta is the Government of Malta’s entity for the development and promotion of Sport in Malta.

The local horse racing season starts officially next Sunday with a programme that is sure to attract a large crowd to the racetrack.

After last year saw the first edition of the MRC Champion Trotter with 2 handicap finals, it was decided that this year five finals will be held, one for each category, with autostart over 2140m.

For these finals the 12 most consistent horse in each category were invited to participate according to last year’s point classification with each horse participating in the class he is placed in at the moment.

Prize money for these finals is an attractive one with a global sum of €9730 being distributed. Apart from this the owners of the first four finishers in each final will receive a trophy.

Last week the Malta Racing Club Council issued its racing programme for the first part of the season whilst it also decided to revamp the official race card by changing its front page.
