Paul Formosa won the Brolli Trap Trophy at the Southern Shooting Club in an Event that was organised on two qualification rounds of 25 clay targets each, where the six highest ranked shooters advanced to the Final and shot in another five knockout stages from a single shot.

Accompanying  Formosa on the podium were, ISSF Coach James Galea, who literally practiced what he preaches to his students, when today he made a satisfactory comeback to shooting by winning first prize in his Class and also for winning the Silver Medal overall, Stephen Aquilina finished in third place overall and took home the Bronze Medal.

The Finals results were;

1st Paul Formosa 22/25 + 3/5 + 2/5 + 5/5 + 9/10, total score 41/50

2nd James Galea 18/25 + 2/5 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 5/10, total score 33/50

3rd Stephen Aquilina 16/25 + 1/5 + 4/5 + 4/5, total score 25/40

4th John Marmara 12/25 + 4/5 + 3/5, total score 19/35

5th Frank Scorfna 14/25 + 0/5, total score 14/30

6th Nicholas Schembri 9/25, total score 9/25

The top three Shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with the following scores;

Class A

1st Frank Scorfna 41/50

2nd Paul Formosa 36/50

3rd Nicky Carabott 35/50


Class B

1st James Galea 42/50

2nd Stephen Aquilina 37/50

3rd George Cassar 36/50


Class C

1st John Marmara 38/50

2nd Nicholas Schembri 37/50

3rd Steve Azzopardi 33/50


The MSSF Trap Programme will continue on Sunday, 17 September 2017 at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges with the Lorchard Trophy.
