Paul Formosa was the overall winner of the Santa Marija Trap Grand Prix that was held at the Southern Shooting Club.

This weekend’s competition was organised on five qualification rounds of 25 clay targets each, three rounds on Saturday and two rounds on Sunday.

The six highest ranked athletes advanced to the Final Stages according to the ISSF Rules and Regulations, while the best two Shooters from Classes A, B and C, who did not make it through to the Final Stages competed in Barrage B, which is a round of 25 targets from a single shot also starting from zero.

The ISSF Final Overall Results were;

1st Paul Formosa 21/25 + 5/5 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 7/10, total score 41/50

2nd George Mifsud 21/25 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 9/10, total score 39/50

3rd Stephen Vella 16/25 + 5/5 + 4/5 + 3/5, total score 28/40

4th Noel Attard 17/25 + 2/5 + 3/5, total score 22/35

5th Nicky Carabott 15/25 + 3/5, total score 18/30

6th George Cassar 12/25, total score 12/25

The Top Two Shooters in their respective classes concluded Barrage B with the following scores;

1st John Marmara 19/25

2nd Stephen Aquilina 17/25

3rd Charlie Demanuele 14/25

4th Steve Azzopardi 13/25

5th Angelo Ciappara 13/25

6th Daren Aquilina 13/25


The best shooter in Day 1 was Noel Attard with the score of 64/75, while Paul Formosa was the best Shooter of Day 2 with the score of 46/50. George Cassar took the prize for the best Veteran.


The MSSF Shotgun Trap Programme will continue on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August 2017 at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges with the prestigious All Malta – Presidents’ Cup.
