Jurgen Balzan a player now playing with Italian club Black and Blue Pisa was awarded a Malta Sport Scholarship by the Maltese government in 2016.
Jurgen started his table football (Better known as Subbuteo) 4 years ago at the tender age of 12 with the local club Valletta Lions Table Football Club. For the past 2 years he was approached to play in Italy and is presently playing with Black and Blue Pisa.
Last year he played in the Italian league Serie C with his team, which placed 3rd place in this category.
During his career from 2013 Jurgen has won various tournaments organised both locally and abroad. Last year he won the Major of Enderby (U.K.) in the U15 category which also earned him an award during the Maltese Olympic Annual awards.
Last year he also won the 2nd Division League organised by the local Association, Malta Table Football Sports Association and earned a promotion to the 1st Division and was the winner in the Under 15 category.
Jurgen Balzan also represented Malta twice in the FISTF World Cup organised by the World body, Federation of International Sports Table Football where last year he made it to the quarter finals. This year he will be representing Malta again for the 3rd consecutive time in the FISTF World Cup which is going to be held in September 2017 in Paris – France.
