Stephen Vella won the Easter Shoot Trap Event at the Southern Shooting Club.

This Sunday’s Competition was organised on two qualification rounds of twenty five clay targets each.

The six Finalists and their qualification scores were; Stephen Vella 43/50, George Grech 43/50, and Justin Borg 38/50, Mark Bonello 35/50, Carmelo Briffa 35/50 and Vincent Cassar 33/50 who replaced Frank Scorfna as he retired immediately after the qualification rounds.

The Finals overall results were;

1st Stephen Vella 19/25 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 6/10, total score 34/50

2nd Carmelo Briffa 15/25 + 5/5 + 1/5 + 4/5 + 5/10, total score 30/50

3rd Vincent Cassar 18/25 + 4/5 + 1/5 + 2/5, total score 25/40

4th George Grech 13/25 + 4/5 + 2/5, total score 19/35

5th Justin Borg 12/25 + 3/5, total score 15/30

6th Mark Bonello 8/25, total score 8/25

The top Shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with the following scores;

Class A

1st Stephen Vella 43/50


Class B

1st George Grech 43/50

2nd Frank Scorfna 41/50

3rd Mark Bonello 35/50


Class C

1st Justin Borg 38/50

2nd Carmelo Briffa 35/50

3rd Darren Aquilina 30/50


The MSSF Trap Programme shall continue on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April 2017 at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges with the Buffer Trophy, being the third Selection Shoot for the European Championship – Shotgun to be held later on this year in Baku, Azerbaijan.

This weekend’s Selection Shoot will also be the second of four shoots for World Championship – Shotgun to be held this September in Moscow, Russia.

Starting this weekend are two other Selection Shoots, one for the Fazz’a Open Italian Cup – Shotgun that is due to be held in Todi, Italy and the other will be for the Junior World Cup – Shotgun to be held in Porpetto, Italy. Both Events will take place in  August of this year.
