Division One – This week featured the first set of matches since the split in the division with title contenders Kalkara St Joseph and Floriana Ajax A continuing were they left off with comfortable wins against BBugia Cox Sports Club 8-0 and Mosta Horseshoe Bar A 6-2 respectively. In the relegation pool the only scheduled match ended all square between Zejtun Beland Bullseye and Gudja POs Bar A which leaves both teams level on fourteen points occupying the second bottom relegation spot.

Division Two – Bugibba Munchies Pub extended their lead at the top to four points after seeing off the challenge of Floriana Ajax B and Hamrun Education Bar A against Senglea M. Conquest ended in a 4-4 draw. This is the first time this season in which the leader of this division enjoys a lead bigger than three points and with only five games to go Bugibba can start dreaming of playing in the highest division next season. From the bottom side of the table a surprise 7-1 away win for Mosta Bocci Club over Gudja POs Bar B opened up the relegation wide open as now only three points separate these two teams.

 Division Three – Mosta Horseshoe Bar B extended their unbeaten season to thirteen matches after comfortably defeating St Pauls Diamonds 7-1. A surprise defeat for Bugibba Inter. Sun City against St. Venera Red Square meant that leaders Mosta extended their lead to eleven points and now are almost certain to be crowned champions but also the promotion race is wide open with Hamrun Education Bar B trailing Bugibba by two points with a game in hand.

A large number of participants took part in the National doubles competition which saw brothers Norbert and David Attard defend the title they also won last season. On route to the final the pair saw of the challenges of B.Desira/N.Ebejer 3-0 at the last 32 stage; V.Busutill/J.Agius 3-0 at the last 16 stage; E.Scerri/T.Borg 3-1 at the quarter final stage and A.Scerri/G.Abela 4-2 in the semi-final. In the final they faced M.Aquilina/E.Ciantar of Kalkara with the pair taking the first leg but a reaction from the brothers saw them win the next four legs for a 4-1 lead. The sixth leg gave a lifeline to the Kalkara`s pair but once again an immediate reaction from Norbert and David Attard saw them clinch the title for the second consecutive year. This is the third pairs title in a short period of time for them as last November they also won the prestigious honour in the Malta International Darts Open.


After an absence of numerous years, the ladies’ single championship was re-introduced this season with eighteen players fighting it out for the top honour. Bev Keen winning the title in style as she only lost one leg in the entire competition with wins over Tracy Chambers 2-0; Elaine Liddell 2-1; Anne Hughes 3-0 and Stephania Buhagiar 3-0 in the final. The Malta Darts Association will continue to work hand in hand with various entities to ensure that the ambitious targets set for the ladies’ game are reached.


The first leg from the quarter final stage in the 5 a-side cup competition took place with Senglea M. Conquest, Mosta Horseshoe Bar A, Floriana Ajax A and Kalkara St Joseph taking a lead into the return leg scheduled for 22/03.
