Brian Galea claimed his third Trap Selection Shoot in a row at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges, thus he will be representing Malta in the ISSF World Cup Shotgun, Trap Event that will take place in Larnaca Cyprus on the 5th and 6th May 2017.

This weekend’s Event was organised on five qualification rounds of 25 clay targets each, three rounds on Saturday and two rounds on Sunday, after which the six highest ranked athletes advanced to the Finals of another five knock out stages from a single shot.

On Saturday Galea managed a World Class score of 74/75 hit targets, as he shot the only two perfect straights 25/25 of the competition followed by another near perfect round of 24/25 hits .

Frans Pace, Stephen Vella, Alvin Vella and Mario Buhagiar also managed a round of 24/25 hits on Saturday, Day 1 of the competition.

The Final Results were;

1st Brian Galea 21/25 + 4/5 + 4/5 + 5/5 + 9/10, total score 43/50

2nd Frans Pace 22/25 + 5/5 + 2/5 + 4/5 + 7/10, total score 40/50

3rd Stephen Vella 21/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 3/5, total score 31/40

4th Nicky Carabott 19/25 + 3/5 + 2/5, total score 24/35

5th Mario Buhagiar 17/25 + 4/5, total score 21/30

6th Alvin Vella 15/25, total score 15/25

The top three Shooters in their respective classes concluded their two Sunday qualification rounds with the following scores;

Class A

1st Frans Pace 44/50

2nd Stephen Vella 43/50

3rd Brian Galea 41/50

Class B

1st Mario Buhagiar 40/50 – CB: 14

2nd Joe Xuereb 40/50 – CB: 8

3rd Stephen Aquilina 40/50

Class C

1st Mario Gauci 35/50

2nd Charlie Demanuele 34/50 – CB: 3

3rd Joe Zammit 34/50 – CB: 1

The MSSF Shotgun Trap Programme will continue on Sunday, 05 March 2017 at the Southern Shooting Club with the E A R Trophy.
