The fourth week from the Malta Premier League of Darts took place at Sun City Bar, Bugibba which saw Norbert Attard making it four in four and Godfrey Abela, David Attard and John Ciantar claiming their second win in this campaign.

Godfrey Abela v John Agius 4-2

G.Abela continued where he left last week with a second consecutive win, this time against J.Agius. Abela took the lead by winning the first leg but a lapse in form saw him missing numerous doubles and found himself 2-1 down. The fourth leg was crucial with Abela winning the leg in only 13 darts which gave him confidence as he upped his game in the next two legs for a 4-2 victory. On the night G.Abela 3-dart average of 83.01 was the highest of all eight players.

David Attard v Albert Scerri 4-3

This was a must win match for D.Attard to keep his hopes alive of finishing in the top 4 which would guarantee a place in the National team for next summer`s Mediterranean cup in France. Attard started the better of the two and took a 2-0 lead and should have extended his lead even further but 3 darts missed at the double in the 3rd leg saw Scerri taking advantage to reduce the deficit. The next three legs all went with throw with Scerri winning the 4th, 6th leg and Attard winning the 5th leg which meant that the 7th and final leg was required to determine the winner. Attard came out on top which condemned Scerri to his first loss in this competition.

John Ciantar v Brian Abela 4-3

Two players in need of a win faced each other in the 3rd match of the night with J.Ciantar taking the points in a final leg decider. The first two legs were shared with Ciantar taking the first and Abela the second. The third leg saw Ciantar hitting two 180s to take the lead once again. Wins in the 4th and 5th legs saw Abela take the lead for the first time but there was another twist in the match with Ciantar winning the last two legs for a 4-3 victory which put him on a 2W-2L record in sixth place.

Vincent Busutill v Norbert Attard 3-4

The final match of the night saw Floriana Ajax team-mates face each other with Attard looking to maintain his winning streak and Busutill looking to bounce back after two consecutive defeats have left him in the bottom half. After four legs the score was all square with Attard winning the 1st and 4th leg and Busutill winning the 2nd and 3rd leg. Attard won the 5th leg with Busutill replying immediately in winning the 6th leg which saw both players miss a dart for a high checkout of 140, 160. The 7th and final leg would once again determine the winner with Attard coming out on top to make it four wins in four.

Standings: 1st N.Attard – (4-0) 2nd A.Scerri – (3-1); 3rd D.Attard – (2-2); 4th G.Abela – (2-2); 5th J.Agius – (2-2); 6th John Ciantar – (2-2); 7th Vincent Busutill – (1-3); 8th B.Abela – (0-4).

Statistics: Best 3-dart average – G.Abela – 83.01; Best leg – G.Abela – 13; 180s – J.Ciantar – 2; Highest checkout – B.Abela – 100.
