Brian Galea claimed the Grazio Vella & Bros Trap Trophy at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club in very bad weather conditions.

This Event was organised on two rounds of 25 clay targets each, where the six highest ranked athletes in the qualification rounds advanced to the Final of another five knock out stages from a single shot.

The first stage consists of a total of 25 targets, the second, third and fourth stages consist of 5 targets each while the fifth and last stage consists of 10 targets.

Finalists start from zero, but the results from all stages of the Final are cumulative and after each stage the athlete with the least hit targets is eliminated and is ranked accordingly.

This Sunday’s Final Stages results were;

1st Brian Galea 21/25 + 4/5 + 2/5 + 4/5 + 7/10, total score 38/50

2nd Paul Formosa 19/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 7/10, total score 37/50

3rd Jean Pierre Mifsud 18/25 + 3/5 + 2/5 + 3/5, total score 26/40

4th George Mifsud 16/25 + 2/5 + 3/5, total score 21/35

5th Sean Rizzo 15/25 + 2/5, total score 17/30

6th Mark Bonello 13/25, total score 13/25

The top three Shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with the following scores;

Class A

1st George Mifsud 44/50

2nd Paul Formosa 43/50

3rd Brian Galea 42/50

Class B

1st Mark Bonello 42b/50

2nd Jean Pierre Mifsud 41/50

3rd Stephen Aquilina 39/50

Class C

1st Carmel Briffa 40/50

2nd Peter Borg 37/50

3rd Darren Aquilina 33/50

On Thursday 26th and Friday 27th January 2017 the MSSF with the support of Sportmalta will be organizing the ISSF Shotgun Judges & Referees Course at the Kirkop Sports Complex.

The MSSF Shotgun Trap Programme will continue on Sunday, 29 January 2017 at the Bidnija Ranges with the Greener Cup.
