George Cassar won the pre-Christmas Trap Competition organised at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club, when he defeated Darren Aquilina in the Gold Medal Match with the score of 12/15 hits to 3/15 hits.

In the semi-final, Cassar hit 13/15 targets while Aquilina managed 11/15 hits.

In the Bronze Medal Match, Stephen Aquilina finished in third place overall as he prevailed over George Mifsud with the score of 8/15+2 to 8/15+1. In the semi-final, both Aquilina and Mifsud managed 10/15 hits from a single shot.

The other two shooters, who did not make it through to the Medal Matches after the semi-final stages were Jean Pierre Mifsud and Paul Formosa, who finished in fifth and sixth place, with the scores of 9/15 hits and 8/15 hits respectively.

The top shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with;

Class A

1st Paul Formosa 42/50 (Count Back Rule)

2nd George Mifsud 42/50


Class B

1st Stephen Aquilina 41/50 (Count Back Rule)

2nd Jean Pierre Mifsud 41/50

3rd George Cassar 36/50


Class C

1st Darren Aquilina 38/50

2nd Nicholas Schembri 33/50

3rd Peter George Borg 32/50


The MSSF Shotgun Programme will continue this weekend at the Bidnija, Qormi and Southern Shooting Club with the Mira Ghall-Istrina in all the shooting disciplines.
