The 3rd edition of the Malta Canoe Sports Festival will be held at Dock One, Cospicua. The two day event will kick off on the 12th November with a fiercely competitive canoe polo tournament followed by youth sprint kayak races and sea kayak trials on the 13th November.

The international canoe polo tournament will see eight teams battle it out for victory in what can only be described as a fast paced, dynamic team game . Apart from 3 local club teams, this year’s line-up includes, Canoa Polo Palermo, Jomar Club Catania, Polisportiva Canottieri Catania, Canoa Polo Ortigia.

Youth sprint kayak races will be split into U10 and U14, with knockout races held on Sunday 13th November at 9am. Whilst a majority of athletes hail from the Malta Canoeing Academy, the races are open to the public.  In a showcase of speed and agility, athletes will race head to head over a 100m course.

Kayak Gozo will also be offering basic sea kayaking taster sessions to members of the public on Day 2 of the event.  The sessions will be limited therefore pre-booking is recommended. Stable sea kayaks offer a fun way of exercising and exploring the Maltese coastline however the taster sessions will be limited to the marina.

Christopher Camilleri, President of the Malta Canoe Federation commented ‘Following the success of previous years events, we are pleased to see a diverse number of teams and athletes signing up for the event. We invite local canoeists and members of the public to join us for a fun filled weekend of canoe sports.’
