Nicky Carabott won the Franwin Trophy at the Southern Shooting Club on Sunday 02 October 2016, defeating Frank Scorfna in the Gold Medal Match with the score of 13/15 to 10/15.

Paul Formosa finished in third place overall when he beat Angelo Ciappara in the Bronze Medal Match with the score of 12/15 to 10/15.

In the semi-final Carabott’s score was 14/15, Scorfna hit 12/15 targets while Formosa and Ciappara both managed 11/15.

The other two shooters, who did not make it through to the Medal Matches after the semi-final stages, were Sean Rizzo and Stephen Aquilina, who finished in the fifth and in the sixth place respectively when Rizzo managed 10/15 and Aquilina hit  8/15.

The top shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds of 25 targets per round with;

The MSSF Shotgun Trap Programme will continue on Saturday, 08 October and Sunday, 09 October at the Bidnija Ranges with the Donald Vella Memorial, being the first of three selection shoots for the ISSF World Cup Shotgun to be held in New Delhi, India.
