Nazzareno Attard added another trophy to his showcase as he won the Darleen Cup this Sunday, at the Bidnija Ranges.

This Trap Event was organised on 50 targets, were the top six shooters overall in qualifications competed on another 15 targets from one shot in the semi-finals and eventually the top four ranking athletes shot again on a further 15 targets, from a single shot in the Gold Medal Match and the Bronze Medal Match.

This Sunday’s top six shooters overall were Paul Formosa and Alvin Vella with the score of 47/50, Nazzareno Attard scored 45/50, George Mifsud and Stephen Aquilina both hit 44/50 and Warren Sammut with 43/50 as he beat Nicky Carabott in a shoot-off to access the semi-final stages with the score of 43/50+3 to 43/50+2.

In the Gold Medal Match Nazzareno Attard beat Alvin Vella with the score of 11/15 to 10/15. Attard’s semi-final score was 13/15 while Vella’s was 14/15.

In the Bronze Medal Match Paul Formosa had the best of Warren Sammut as they scored 10/15 and 9/15 respectively. In the semi-final Formosa hit 11/15 targets while Sammut managed 9/15.

The other two shooters who did not make it to the Medal Matches were George Mifsud and Stephen Aquilina as they both smashed 8/15 clays from a single shot.

The top three shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds of 25 targets per round with;

Class A

1st Paul Formosa 47/50

Alvin Vella 47/50

3rd George Mifsud 44/50


Class B

1st Nazzareno Attard 45/50

2nd Stephen Aquilina 44/50

3rd Warren Sammut 43/50


Class C

1st Michael Galea 37/50

2nd Joe Zammit 35/50

3rd Steve Azzopardi 34/50


The MSSF Shotgun Trap Programme will continue on Sunday, 02 October at the Southern Shooting Club with the Franwin Trophy.
