Nicky Carabott won the Float Glass Trophy at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges on Sunday 04 September 2016, beating Sean Rizzo for Gold.

After Rizzo took an early lead in the Gold Medal Match when hitting thirteen consecutive targets and Nicky Carabott missing twice, he saw his lead fade away when failing on his last two clays, forcing the match into a shoot-off.

In the shoot-off Rizzo missed his third target while Carabott did not fail, bringing the final score to 13/15+3 hits to 13/15+2 hits.

This was Nicky Carabott’s 7th overall victory of the year.

In the semi-final, Carabott hit 14/15 targets whereas Rizzo managed a perfect straight of 15/15.

Matthew Busuttil stepped onto the podium with third place as he overcame Nazzareno Attard by the score of 13/15 to 11/15. In the semi-final, Busuttil smashed 13/15 while Attard hit 10/15.

The other two shooters, who did not make it through to the Medal Matches after the semi-final stages, were Frank Scorfna and George Grech, who finished in fifth and sixth place respectively, both with the same score of 9/15 hit targets.

The top shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with the following scores;

Class B

Matthew Busuttil 45/50

Sean Rizzo 44/50

Frank Scorfna 43/50


Class C

Manuel Cachia Simpson 38/50

Joe Zammit 38/50

The MSSF Shotgun Trap Programme will continue on Sunday, 11 September 2016 at the Southern Shooting Club with the Brolli Trophy.
