The Parlamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, Honorable Chris Agius together with SportMalta’s CEO Mark Cutajar wished to congratulate William Chetcuti for placing first in double trap during the ISSF World Cup held in Baku.
Chetcuti hit 139 clays from 150 in the qualification phase, subsequently hitting 29 of 30 clays in the semifinal booking, advancing to the final against Italian shooter Marco Innocenti, who also hit 29 in the semifinals. The two shot an equal 28 clays from 30 in the final forcing a shoot off which William Chetcuti won.
Both the Armed Forces of Malta and SportMalta support William Chetcuti, confirming the government’s investment in such athletes and in this sporting discipline. Shooting sport has always brought success to the country and it is wise that the Government through SportMalta continues to invest, so that athletes have the facilities to train in the best possible way.
