The Maltese Synchronised swimming National team, category 13-15 years competed in the Delfin Cup in Hungary between the 20th and the 22nd of May. The squad, which was made up of a total of ten girls; Mikela Riolo, Ingrid Djincharadze, Pearl Calleja, Amy Grech, Andria Friggieri, Raissa Baldacchino, Lisa Fenech, Vanessa Mairangas, Ana Culic, and Hayley Camilleri competed in figures, team routine and solo competitions. The Delfin cup hosted over 500 swimmers from a total of 6 different countries competing in different age brackets. The Maltese girls, once again, did Malta proud as apart from performing well, got no less than 15 medals in total! (8 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medal) Head coach, the Hungarian Szilvia Faraga stated “I am really proud of the girls, although the conditions for preparation were not perfect, they performed really well. We received extremely good feedback from other countries and this will keep us pushing and striving for better results”. During this competition, Malta also fielded a local judge who performed well and who will eventually work towards becoming an officially qualified synchronized judge, a much needed support for our National teams. The next scheduled competition for our girls is in Austria towards the end of July.
