A few days ago, at The Magazino Cruise Port Terminal in Valletta, The Valletta Subbuteo Club organized two International Table Football Tournaments, that were part of the Valletta 450 activities. A good number of players took part with Derek Conti of Valletta Subbuteo Club, winning the Open Category of The International Open on Saturday. He won the final against Hansel Mallia by four goals to one. the Veteran Category was won by Pascal Scheen of Belgium, he beat Italian Patrizio Lazzaretti, one goal to nil. Melvin Barun won the Under 19 Category, while eleven year old Riccardo Natoli of Italy, won both the Under 15 and 12 Categories.

On Sunday The Grand Prix was played and for the fifth consecutive year, The Valletta Subbuteo Club won the Team Event. The capital city club won the group with two wins over Messina TS 4-0 and Bormla SC 3-0. Valletta Lions TFC where next and another 4-0 win, gave the Malta Champions a place in the final. In the other semifinal, Bormla SC won 7-5 on goals, after a 2-2 draw against SS Lazio TFC. The final was a one sided affair, with Valletta SC easily winning once again against Bormla SC 4-0. The players that formed part of the Valletta SC team were, Joseph Borg Bonaci (cap), Derek Conti, Samuel Bartolo, Mario Camilleri and Jason Pisani.

In the Individual Grand Prix competitions, Mark Gauci won the Open tournament by beating Massimo Cremona three goals to two in extra time. The Veteran category was one again between Pascal Scheen and Patrizio Lazzaretti, but this time, Patrizio won easily by five goals to nil. As on Saturday, the Under 19 was won by Melvin Barun and the Under 12 and 15 tournaments, once again won by up rising italian player from Messina, Riccardo Natoli.

Both these tournaments where held under the auspicious of the world table football governing body, The F.I.S.T.F.
