Nathan Lee Xuereb wins his third ISSF Gold Medal.
After two back to back European Championships in 2013 and 2014, Xuereb wins Gold at the Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany.
Malta’s Flag was flying high as the Maltese youngster left his best for last when he hit 29/30 targets in the Gold Medal Match to beat James Dedman of Great Britain who managed 24/30.
In the semi final Nathan Lee Xuereb was forced into a shoot-off with Andrea Galesso of Italy when they both hit 24/30, however, Italy’s athlete saw his hopes of qualifying to the Gold Medal Match blown away when he missed one of his third pair of targets.
The top six ranking juniors were;
In first place, was Nathan Lee Xuereb of Malta with 136/150 in his qualification rounds, 24/30 + 6 in the semi final and 29/30 in the Gold Medal Match, second was James Dedman of Great Britain, Russia’s Viacheslav Yukhimenko finished third, while Andrea Galesso of Italy, David Alexander Mcmath of Great Britain and Tyler Deyo of the USA finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.
Gianluca Chetcuti was also competing at the ISSF Junior World Cup. His score was 122/150.
Jimmy Bugeja was assisting both Maltese athletes.
Xuereb is now looking to be in top form as he will start gearing up for The Malta International Grand Prix 2016 to be held between 08 May 2016 and 15 May 2016 at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation Ranges in Bidnija.
