Paul Sant clinched his first ever Trap Gold this weekend when he won the Buffer Trophy at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation Ranges in Bidnija.
This Event was organised on 2 qualification rounds of 25 targets each, where the top six shooters overall passed through to the semi-final stages and eventually the Medal Matches.
Paul Sant placed 1st with 41/50 in qualification, 11/15 + 2 in the semi-final and 11/15 in the Gold Medal Match.
Mario Buhagiar finished in 2nd place overall with 35/50 in qualification, 11/15 + 2 in the semi-final and 10/15 in the Gold Medal Match.
Brian Galea had to settle for 3rd place after hitting 45/50 in the qualification rounds, 10/15 + 3 in the semis and 11/15 in the Bronze Medal Match.
George Cassar missed his place on the podium when he lost in a shoot-off with Sant and Buhagiar for Gold before competing with Brian Galea for Bronze. He finished 4th with 38/50 in the qualification rounds, 11/15 + 1 in the semi-final and 7/15 in the Bronze Medal Match.
Alvin Vella failed to qualify for Bronze when he lost in a shoot-off with Brian Galea. Vella finished in 5th place overall after he managed 38/50 in qualification and 10/15 + 2 in the semi-final, while Michael Galea took 6th place after he broke 36/50 clays in the qualification rounds and 8/15 in the semi-final.
