The Air Rifle & Pistol Shooting Club organized their tenth competition for 2015/16, held at the Larry Vella Hall indoor range in Bidnija.   In the Air Rifle event, William Vella won with a score of 595.1, followed by GianLuca Azzopardi Spiteri with 568.9, and in third place Michael Xuereb with 547.9.  In the final round no changes were recorded and William continued to lead the event by winning with a score of 201.3.  In this event the club welcomed a new junior entry Jeremy Pisani.

In the ‘mixed’ Air Pistol qualification competition, Eleanor Bezzina took the lead with a score of 563 from 600, followed by Raymond Cacciattolo with 545 and in the third place Antoine Attard with 533.  In the final round there were some changes were Antoine Attard took second place and Romeo Zuber followed in third place leaving out Raymond Cacciattolo from the first 3 places.  Until the last shot Antoine continued to fight for the first place but was not enough to win on Eleanor Bezzina.

Few days ago the pistol target shooter Eleanor Bezzina competed in the European Championships held in Gyor, Hungary, where 599 athletes coming from 47 countries participated in 16 individual shooting events.  She scored a total of 377 from 400 points but was not enough to obtain the Olympic quota were she was just 2 points short from qualifying for Rio 2016.  Eleanor’s  participation in the European Championships was made possible thanks to the Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC).
