Mario Buhagiar celebrated the Victory Day feast by claiming his own victory when he won the Trap Competition that was held at the Malta National Shooting Ranges in Siggiewi.
He was joined on the podium by James Galea who finished in the second and by Eugenio Borg who finished third.
After the qualification rounds, the six Finalists in the Bib number order were;
James Galea with the score of 46/50+1, Mario Buhagiar hit 46/50+0, Nicholas Carabott scored 44/50+4, Frank Scorfna managed 44/50+3, Eugenio Borg shot 44/50+0+2 and Brian Zammit concluded with 44/50+0+1.
The Finals results were;
1st Mario Buhagiar 20/25 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 7/10, total score 37/50
2nd James Galea 19/25 + 4/5 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 5/10, total score 34/50
3rd Eugenio Borg 19/25 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 3/5, total score 29/40
4th Frank Scorfna 19/25 + 2/5 + 3/5, total score 24/35
5th Nicholas Carabott 18/25 + 2/5, total score 20/30
6th Brian Zammit 15/25, total score 15/25
Two perfect straights of 25/25 hit targets were registered by Mario Buhagiar and by James Galea.
The top three Shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with the following scores;

In the meantime the Trap Team will be returning back to Malta later on today after competing at the European Championship in Lonato Italy, with William Chetcuti realizing yet another close encounter with the result of 21/25, 24/25, 24/25, 24/25 and 24/25 for a total of 117/125, only two targets shy of a potential shoot-off for the final stages. Brian Galea and Christopher Vella followed by 111/125 and 102/125 respectively.
The MSSF Shotgun Programme continues on Sunday 15 September 2019 at the Southern Shooting Club with the Caesars Trophy.
