SportMalta for the fourth consecutive time hosted the fund raising telethon marathon organised by the Community chest fund foundation. The hosting of this event is made possible by the enthusiasm of all the staff at the Kirkop Sport Complex who work day and time so that the service provided to all those involved will be the best possible.
Locals dug deep into their pockets to donate just over €7.3 million to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation on Boxing Day, in a record-breaking edition of L-Istrina.
The annual charity telethon beat last year’s €6.04 million total which was in itself a record shortly after 11pm, and the donation counter continued till midnight when her excellency Marie Louise Coleiro Preca brought to an end this initiative with her concluding speech.#
SportMalta also contributed by giving to l-Istrina €270,000, collected during this year’s edition of the President’s Solidarirty fun run. This amount was the highest out of all initiatives and donations during the 12 hour marathon
Sport can various other contribution towards the fund including €51,000 from various sport activities organised under the auspices of the Solidarity in Sport Campaign, whilst many other clubs and Associations registered gave their contribution following various initiatives.
SportMalta CEO Mark Cutajar, said that he is proud by the work that the entity is doing under the Corporate Social Responsibility Branch. Besides the link between SportMalta and the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, the entity hosts also the Puttinu Cares Football Marathon and through an initiative of its employees organised a marathon of snooker which proceeding will be presented as a donation to the day tal-providenza on January 1st.
