Position of Director of Finance with SportMalta

Permit Number 575/2018

SportMalta (“SM”), the regulatory authority under the responsibility of the Secretary parliamentary for Youths, Sports and Voluntary Organisationswithin the Ministry for Education and Employment, is looking for a Director ofFinance.

The main responsibilities shall be, but not limited to:

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department including the design of an organisational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goal and objectives
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
  • Acts as a consultant on current and proposed operating policies and procedures to ensure that adequate internal controls are considered

The ideal candidate will be in possession of:

  • Masters in Accountancy or ACCA Professional Level qualification (MQF Level 7) and/or 10 years’ experience working in finance, of which 7 years must be in a Managerial position
  • CPA Warrant

Position of Accounts Officer with SportMalta

Permit Number 499/2018

SportMalta (“SM”), the regulatory authority under the responsibility of the Secretary parliamentary for Youths, Sports and Voluntary Organisationswithin the Ministry for Education and Employment, is looking for an Accounts Officer.

The main responsibilities shall be, but not limited to:

  • Assist the Financial Controller in all the accounting and financial management of the entity
  • Assist in book-keeping and accounting on accounting software, preparation of cheque payments and budgeting in a timely order
  • Record and reconcile on a monthly basis all cash movements including petty cash to supporting documents and ensuring authorizations, financial transparency and control compliance
  • Provide accounting and financial assistance in closing off the year-end including auditing
  • Ensure that debts are paid in a timely manner according to SM’s terms of payment
  • Chase debtors for overdue payments by telephone, email and letter within agreed timescale
  • Maintain accounting databases of key information as required by the Director of Finance and perform regular backups of the accounting software

The ideal candidate will be:

  • proficient in the Maltese and English languages; and
  • having minimum five (5) ACCA qualifications out of fourteen (14) or A level in Accounts with a minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in an accountancy department
